This is the first version of the first layout of Lala Land’s rerelease. Lala Land is now 100% on Wordpress, using a theme created by Elegant Themes. The theme used was completely overhauled 100% by me and the girl image used was an illustration found at iStockPhoto, then editted by me.
Lala Land was created in the spring of 1999 while I was pregnant and had very little else to do. The site started out on a free hosting site that I can’t remember and no longer exists. When I got hosted, the site became very popular and I ended up using all my host’s space, so he offered to get my my own domain and hosting. At the time I was having trouble finding a name and it was suggested to me that I pick the .nu extension, because it was very popular and it was the only one available. Lalaland.nu is currently registered with E-Starr Domains ($30/yr) and is hosted with E-Starr Hosting. Over the past 10 years Lala Land has had a lot of copiers, a lot of stealers, and a lot of downtime. I hope the next ten years are happy and drama free.
Lala Land has begun selling advertising for 2 reasons. The first reason is obvious, because I need to pay for my domain name and hosting bill. Secondly, my son Michael is the inspiration for this site even being open, so I have started a savings account so that he can get something back from the site, too. After all the site expenses are paid, any revenue I receive (minus that which I must pay in taxes) will go to a savings account that he will receive on his 16th birthday. My other site, Radkitten, will have the same setup for my other son, Corey.
